  • All Sports Clinic: June 17-20 (Grades 3-8)

    This co-ed clinic features all the sports that CM has to offer. This clinic will be a fun opportunity for participants to be active and learn the basics of a variety of sports. Play baseball, basketball, soccer, and many others! Run by Catholic Memorial staff.

  • Soccer Clinic: July 8-11 (Grades 3-9)

    CM Soccer Academy
    offers an outstanding opportunity for boys and girls to develop and improve their soccer skills. Players will learn techniques to enhance their individual skill level from an experienced staff. Our staff will work with your player to strengthen all technical weaknesses. All-facets of soccer (dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and defense) will be worked on daily. Whether you are an experienced player or only a beginner, the CM Soccer Academy coaches will work to take your game to the next level. CM Soccer Academy is run by CM Varsity coach John Finn ’89.  Coach Finn was the Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 2009 when they won the Massachusetts Division 1 Championship.
  • Baseball Clinic: July 15-18 (Grades 7-9)

    Catholic Memorial’s Summer Baseball Clinic is designed to develop each player’s skills by teaching the fundamentals of the game. Players will have the opportunity to work with CM Head Baseball Coach, Hal Carey ‘95. Coach Carey played varsity baseball at CM from 1993-1995 and played four years at Harvard, including being named captain his senior year at Harvard. Participants are expected to bring a glove and water. Bats and helmets will be provided. Players will receive instruction through small group drills, participating in contests and by playing in two games. T-shirts will be given out on the last day of the clinic.

    Catholic Memorial’s Lacrosse Clinic will teach players the great game of lacrosse and develop their skills to bring their game to the next level. The clinic will provide players with individual instruction and team fundamentals. Whether you are just picking up a stick or preparing for varsity tryouts, this clinic is designed to benefit all skill levels. The clinic stresses the values of sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. CM Head Lacrosse Coach Matt Callahan will lead the clinic. Mr. Callahan has been an assistant lacrosse coach at both Tufts and Brown. He has coached two National Championship Teams and coached many All-American players. In college, he was a 3-time NESCAC League Champion, recipient of the USILA Stiles Memorial Award as the Nation’s Most Outstanding DIII Defender. He was a two time 1st Team All American and a USILA Scholar All-American. 

  • Football Clinic: July 22-25 (Grades 5-9)

    Coach Dibiaso, Massachusetts’ winningest high school football coach. He led CM to its first Super Bowl in forty years in his first season at the helm at CM. Join us for an exceptional clinic that will help players develop their skills and participate in conditioning drills to prepare them for the fall. This is an evening clinic (5:30-7:30pm).
     
     
  • Wrestling Clinic: July 22-25 (Grades 3-9)

    CM 
    Mat Rat Wrestling Clinic aims to enhance basic and intermediate skills of young wrestlers in a fun and safe environment.  Participants will not only learn techniques but will also learn about goal setting and the elements needed to be successful at all levels in the sport of wrestling.  Wrestlers will leave with a strong understanding of up-to-date techniques, gain valuable knowledge of drills and receive advice on nutrition and strength training that will enable them to reach the next level. CM Head Coach Mr. Steven Goode will lead the clinic. Mr. Goode was a very successful assistant wrestling coach at Boston University, and he placed in the top ten in the 1990 U.S. Freestyle National Tournament and challenged for a spot on the 1992 Olympic team.
  • Hockey Clinic: August 19-22 (birth years 2006-2013)

    Session II - 6:30pm - 8:00pm: Skaters born '06-'09

    This clinic is held at West Roxbury Roche Ice Arena, 1275 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132. The cost of the clinic is $250.


    Larry Rooney, the CM Varsity Hockey Coach, with over 20 years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, and collegiate level, will be teaching & coaching the techniques of skating, puck-handling, passing & shooting, and teamwork.
     
    Each group will have on ice activity each day. The first half of each session concentrates on skating, passing, and shooting, while the second half of each session combines these skills with more team-oriented drills. We ask that your son/daughter be in full ice hockey equipment and prepared to learn and have fun each day.
     
     




Enrichment Workshops


Enrichment workshops allow students to develop or enhance writing, art, and public speaking skills. Workshop options open to boys and girls entering grades 5-12.

  • Speech and Debate Workshop: June 24-July 5 (Grades 7-12)

    This course will introduce the fundamentals of public speaking through the competition categories of the Massachusetts Speech and Debate League. Students will engage in Prose and Poetry reading, Radio Announcing, Multiple Reading, Impromptu, Model Congress and Declamation.

  • Model UN Workshop: July 8-11 (Grades 6-8)

    Students will be introduced to Model United Nations and participate in simulations in which they will engage in topics including the drinking water and refugee crises our world faces today.  Looking at historical events and their implications on these current issues, students will research topics and collaborate with classmates as they develop evidence-based arguments to reach a solution with their fellow Model UN members.  This course will help students to develop skills in research, public speaking, collaboration, writing, and debating as they prepare for and participate in a mock Model UN conference session.

  • Crafting the College Essay: July 15-18 (Grade 12)

    Get a jump start on the college application process. Make good use of your time this summer to craft a personal statement that introduces you to college admissions officer. This class will discuss how to select a strong topic, to let your voice shine from the page, and to demonstrate your writing skill. By the end of the course, you will have a working draft of your college essay that has been peer reviewed and reviewed by the instructor.

  • Drawing Workshop: July 15-18 (Grades 9-12)

    This course is an intensive hands-on workshop for students who are passionate about improving their drawing skills and have previous experience with drawing. In this class, students will spend time drawing on various parts of CM’s campus focusing on a variety of mediums such as charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, and conte crayon. Students will learn contour, gesture, proportion, and perspective.

  • Writing Essentials for Middle & High School: July 15-18 (7-9)

    This course is a hands-on workshop designed to improve the writing process for students to ensure greater writing success in any academic endeavor.  The course includes instruction and review of the writing process, (pre-writing, planning, revising, and proofreading), as well as mechanics, (sentence structure, word choice, punctuation, paragraphs).  Students will practice creating a well-planned, well-written response to lectures or assigned reading.

  • Math Enrichment Workshop: July 22-25 (Grades 8-9)

    The 2019 Math Summer Enrichment course is offered to incoming 8th/9th Algebra I students. The course is designed to review major concepts from Pre-Algebra so that students can be successful in Algebra I. Topics covered include operations with positive/negative numbers, solving two-step equations, distributive property, and graphing on the coordinate plane.
