Peer Ministry

Call to Love God

Peer Ministry is a Campus Ministry program that prepares and empowers students to be servant leaders to school community and in their life beyond graduation. Each year over 100 juniors and seniors serve as Peer Ministers.

Peer Ministers openly respond to Jesus' call to love God and love neighbor, and they seek to intentionally live this out as leaders in the CM community.

This program equips students with the necessary skills, talents, and vision to take an active leadership role in Campus Ministry programs such as liturgies, retreats, and mission and service programs such as Brothers United, Movember, the Breast Cancer walk and Mission Madness, as well as in other areas of student leadership within the community.

Peer Ministry Requirements

Participation in Peer Ministry is by application only and open to juniors and seniors, and acceptance is ultimately determined by the Campus Ministry staff. Accepted students must be in good academic standing, have the recommendation of their theology teacher and a second teacher of any academic discipline, and have displayed a lived commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Memorial School. Students of any or no faith tradition are welcome, but all participants must have an openness and eagerness to grow in servant leadership and explore their personal relationships and faith journey.

Three Pillars of Servant Leadership:

  • Faith

    Faith
The heart of Peer Ministry is a desire to grow and deepen students’ faith in God. The Peer Ministry program invites students to grow into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Jesus that is lived out in their interpersonal relationships. This is what we hope for when we pray, “Live, Jesus, in our hearts forever!”
  • Community

    Community
Peer ministers seek to form relationships that create a sense of brotherhood and belonging in the CM community. Students develop skills that enable them to mentor their peers; serve as role models; resolve conflicts among peers; plan, lead, and evaluate Campus Ministry programs that serve the community; and to contribute their talents to other essential elements of the CM community.
  • Service

    Service
Peer ministers respond to the call of Christ and the example of Blessed Edmund Rice by seeking to put their gifts and talents in service of others to create a more just and loving world. The Peer Ministry program empowers students to do this through the lens of service and advocacy in order to creatively and effectively care for the CM community, the Church, and the world-at-large.
