Catholic Memorial Takes First Super Bowl Since '78
The Knights beat King Philip 42-10 to win their first state championship since 1978.
Foxborough, Mass. — The third time was the charm for the Catholic Memorial football team.
After losing the 2018 and 2019 championships, the Knights beat the King Philip Warriors 42-18 to win the MIAA Division 2 Super Bowl. The championship is the school's first in 43 years and caps off an undefeated season
A slow start led to a scoreless first quarter before KP took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. The Knights responded with 21 unanswered points, including touchdown passes from JC Petrongolo to Kole Osinubi and Matt Rios. Datrell Jones' four-yard run in the third quarter gave CM an 18-point lead.
CM continued to pour on points by way of a double pass from Petrongolo to Drew Delucia to Jaeden Skeete for 66 yards.
An 18-yard touchdown reception and a 55-yard interception returned for a score by Osinubi locked up the game.
CM finished the season with a record of 13-0.
