The Knights possessed the ball for less than three minutes in the first half of Friday's MIAA Division 2 Tournament game but still managed to score 41 unanswered points.
West Roxbury, Mass. —  It only took one minute and six seconds of time with possession of the ball for  Catholic Memorial to put their first-round opponent away. The team scored on four of its first seven plays, jumping out to a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter, en route to their 41-0 game against Woburn in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 playoffs.

On the first play from scrimmage, Datrell Jones went 50 yards untouched to put the Knights ahead early. Teammate Carson Harwood one-upped him with a 52-yard run to the end zone on the first play of their next drive. After a three-and-out by Woburn, J.C. Petrongolo found Mervens Amazan on a screen pass and let Amazan do the rest on a 64-yard score to put the Knights ahead 21-0.

As the CM Student section donned hard hats and construction gear, Petrongolo continued to build on his strong junior season. He completed four of his six passing attempts, finishing with 136 yards and three touchdowns. Harwood, Amazan, and Kole Osinubi all found paydirt thanks to Petrongolo.

For the Tanners, quarterback Brett Tuzzolo led the way, connecting on four of his six throws, totaling 35 yards and an interception. The backfield tandem of Brian Ferriera and Derek Baccari piloted the team’s ground attack, consistently finding open lanes and breaking tackles for big runs. In the end, however, the Knights' defense was too much to handle.

The CM defense was able to repeatedly stop the Woburn offense on third and fourth down, leading to punts, and well as turnovers on downs. They also recovered two fumbles and senior Drew DeLucia intercepted a pass early in the second quarter.

The Knights look to continue their playoff run this Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Reading. Tickets are available through GoFan.co.
