Mr. Larry Rooney is proud to serve as an advocate for the young men at CM, with a dynamic background in administrative and athletic leadership. His role as Associate Director of Admissions & External Affairs allows him to build relationships with area schools and parishes, while his position as Varsity Hockey Coach enables him to coach student-athletes on core values and leadership.
Prior to his role at Catholic Memorial, Mr. Rooney worked in the Milton Public School system as the Athletic Director and Director of Physical Education & Health, and for 11 years at Thayer Academy as a teacher, coach, advisor, and admissions officer. A past career in finance and investing has informed his multidimensional role at CM, and provided him with specific experience that helps him prepare CM students for the working world.
Mr. Rooney is a member of Massachusetts Association of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, the Positive Coaching Alliance, USA Hockey – Level 4 Coaching, the Massachusetts Hockey Coaching Association, the Professional Golf Teachers & Coaches Association, and the Jeff Janssen Sports Leadership Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Providence College and a master’s from Northeastern University.
CM prepares students for the rigors of college and beyond. While here, boys embark on service-learning opportunities, leadership development, and character formation programs inspiring them to become confident, courageous young men motivated to do good in the world.
