Since 1959, the CM Indoor Track team has always provided many opportunities for CM athletes. The first varsity team competed under Coaches Howard Spence and Brother Aloysius Barry, earning their first berth at a state meet in 1961, where they finished 5th under the lights at Boston Garden. Dan Leahy took home an individual title in that meet in the hurdles. As a team, Winter Track earned its first Eastern Massachusetts state title in 1971.
