Last weekend the Catholic Memorial Forensic Team traveled to New Haven, Connecticut, to take part in the Yale Invitational. Every year, the Yale Debate Association welcomes more than a thousand competitors from across the country for a weekend of premier forensics competition.
The team was led by strong performances from captains Jack Delaney ’18 and Johnny Esposito ’18. Delaney advanced to and the semi-finals in Dramatic Interpretation, and the finals in Oral Interpretation — the first time CM has had a finalist at national circuit event. Esposito advanced to the quarter-finals in Programmed Oral Interpretation and Dramatic Interpretation.
Other CM standouts from the tournament include Jacob Azzi ’19 (semi-finalist in Original Oratory), Ben Chipman ’19 (semi-finalist in Oral Interpretation), Michael Martins ’19 (quarter-finalist in Oral Interpretation), and Rory Redmond ’20 (quarter-finalist in Dramatic).
The team will compete next in Revere on October 21.
