Catholic Memorial's 31st-annual golf tournament was record-breaking in more ways than one.
More than 140 golfers came to Woodland Golf Club in Newton for the event. The 35 foursomes comprised the largest field in the tournament's history, and by the end of the night, they had raised $250,000, a tournament record, for the Catholic Memorial Fund in Need.
The CM Fund in Need provides immediate help to students who need financial assistance to pay tuition and remain at the school.
"It is the mission of our school to transform the lives of our boys," said Catholic Memorial President Dr. Peter Folan. "The support from the people in this room allows us to enroll outstanding students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience a Christian Brothers education. These gifts allow us to live out our mission."
"The generosity of the CM community has been incredible," says Catholic Memorial Vice-President of Advancement Jack Moynihan. "The continued support from our alumni, parents, faculty, and friends sends a clear message that they believe in the future of the school and that everyone should have the opportunity to receive a CM education. Those ideas have gained momentum with each year of this event, and it certainly showed with the money we raised last night."
A special thank-you to the CM Golf Committee and Co-Chairs Mike Costello ’67 and Michael Broderick ’80 P ’20 for their efforts to make this event a fantastic success, and to John Tobin ’87 and Robbie Consalvo ’91 for their help as emcees. Thank you also to all of our sponsors and participants for your generous support of the tournament.
