CM Soccer hangs tough with No. 2 ranked BC High

Entering into the 2015 season, Coach John Finn '91 knew it was going to be a year of transition for the CM Soccer team. You would have never known it Tuesday night however, as the Knights led number two ranked BC High the majority of the game and came away with a 3-3 tie.

"To come out of that game with one point was incredible," said Coach John Finn.

"I am extremely proud of the way our guys played tonight and am ecstatic with the result."

With nine seniors gone due to graduation, the Knights have a young team, including eleven sophomores.

The youth did not seem to affect the Knights though as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just ten minutes into the game. After a ball was sent deep into BC High territory, Mario Manino '16 was able to beat the goalie to the ball and cross it into the box where Emmanual Kollie '16 headed it into the back of the net.

After both teams traded goals, including one from Rory Sargent '18 for the Knights, Kollie '16 scored ahis second goal of the night to give CM a 3-1 lead at the half.

"Emmanual was great for us tonight, in one of our biggest games of the year, he showed up and played his best," added Coach Finn.

In the second half, it would be all BC High however, as they put pressure on the CM defense and goalie Phil Chomicki '16.

With four minutes left it seemed as though CM would hold on for the win thanks to several great saves from Chomicki, but the Eagles were able to tie it up 3-3 and that is how it would end.

With the tie, the Knights remain undefeated in conference play and will next take on Xaverian on September 18 at home at 5pm.
