FAQ

List of 13 frequently asked questions.

  • What sports are offered for each season?

Fall: Cross Country, Football, Golf, and Soccer

Winter: Basketball, Hockey, Indoor Track and Field, Swimming, and Wrestling

Spring: Baseball, Lacrosse, Outdoor Track and Field, Rugby, Tennis, and Volleyball.

We also offer Strength and Conditioning Club during all three seasons.
  • My son’s physical exam expires mid-season. Can I just wait until next season to get an updated physical?

No, again, the MIAA mandates that a student-athlete’s physical must remain current (within the last 13 months). For example, if the physical was completed on 9/1/2026, it will be valid until 10/1/2027. If your son’s physical will expire mid-season, he must submit an updated physical to continue participating in athletics.
  • How do I register my son for sports?

Click here to be taken to the registration page on ArbiterSports
  • Can my son sign himself up on Arbiter?

A parent or guardian is required to register their son. Students are not permitted to sign up on their own. There are several consents which parents must read, agree, and sign off on.
  • How will I know when my son is approved in Arbiter?

The parent will receive a message through the email address provided to Arbiter stating that the registration is “approved.” Please be aware that registrations are reviewed and approved in order of sign-up date.
  • Where do I submit an updated physical for my son?

Please do not give physical exams to the coaches. All physical exams must be submitted to the Catholic Memorial School Nurse. You will be able to upload your medical forms via your OnCampus account.

When you login to your OnCampus Account you will see a “form to review” at the top, click on the link to review and upload a PDF of the updated physical under “2026 Winter Athletics Physical"
  • How is Sway testing administered?

Testing will now be done on campus in a group setting by a trained licensed medicalvprofessional. All that is needed is a mobile device with the app Sway downloaded.
  • What is Sway testing and how is it done? Who needs it?

Sway testing is concussion management platform that combines objective balance measures using accelerometers and sensors that are already built into your mobile device as well as cognitive measures to support healthcare professionals in performing accurate and informed evaluations using one’s own mobile device.

Sway is available on both the Apple iOS and Android operating systems. Sway Baseline testing will include 1 practice round and then
three baseline measures, combining those scores for an accurate total measure of your balance and cognitive performance. Each testing round takes about five minutes, 20-30 minutes total. Any student signing up for football or soccer must have a Sway test completed every two years.

Please note that the concussion course that students/guardians complete as part of the Arbiter process is a general education about concussions; Sway testing assesses an individual student’s baseline functioning. Both components are required for registration.

  • What if my son decides to do a different sport than what he signed up for?

A parent can go into the registration and edit it, simply changing the sport. Please do not create a second registration. If you have trouble with this, please contact the nurse or athletic trainer for support.

A student may only participate in one sport a season.
  • My son’s physical exam is not up to date. Can you make an exception?

No, we cannot make any exceptions as this rule is mandated by the MIAA. If your son’s physical is expired, you can call the pediatrician and explain the situation. Sometimes physicians will be able to schedule a physical in these situations. If not, many urgent care
centers do sports physicals. Please call any urgent care center for more details.
  • What happens if I sign up late? Will my son still be able to try out?

For your son to be able to participate on the first day of tryouts, please register on Arbiter, have your son complete Sway testing if required, and submit a current physical to the nurse’s office as soon as possible.

Students signing up after the try-out dates will be approved on a rolling basis.
  • When do I sign up for winter sports?

Please sign up as soon as possible. Students will be approved in the
order in which they sign up. The deadline to register is November 27, 2026.
