Bob Maloney, Jr., Esq. '77

Robert P. Maloney, Jr. ’77 is a Partner at Prince Lobel Tye LLP. He focuses his practice in the areas of corporate law, tax, and estate planning and advises companies on all stages of their development.

Bob served as the firm’s managing partner from 1999-2010.  He currently serves as chair of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group and co-chair of the firm’s Closely Held Business Industry Group.

Bob also sits on various charitable and business boards.  He is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors for Catholic Memorial and is currently Chairman of Catholic Memorial School Foundation. While at CM, Bob was in the National Honors Society and competed in football, baseball, and wrestling. Bob was a standout student-athlete during his time at Tufts, where he is a proud member of the Tufts Athletics Hall of Fame for his contributions to the 1979 football team — the only undefeated football team in the history of Tufts Athletics.

“Bobert” as his 5 children call him, is an incredible dad and stepdad and takes pride in all his children.  Kelly Maloney (27), Michael Maloney (25), and 18-year-old triplets — Addison Hopkins, Cameron Hopkins, and Jackson Hopkins. Bob is happily married to his wife, Margo, and they reside in Ipswich.

Bob's mother and father (Robert & Mary) raised four children, Bob being the youngest.  His father was a Boston police officer and detective.  They worked hard to put all four children through Catholic education. The children of Irish immigrants, Bob's parents valued education and the opportunities that it gives.  Bob is always saying to our kids, “Each generation is responsible for doing better than the generation before them. Your job tomorrow is to be a better person than you were today.”

While a student at Tufts University, Bob had an accident that severed his femoral artery and almost took his life. He knew from that experience, that God kept him here for a reason and that was to make a difference in the lives of those around him.  He approaches fatherhood, his marriage, his friendships, his devotion to CM, and his professional life through a unique lens. He is here to make a difference in the lives of everyone around him whether that's through creating opportunity or giving of his time, talents, and resources in a multitude of ways. Bob has made a lasting impact on many and Catholic Memorial is honored to recognize him as the 2023 Vince in Bono Malum award recipient.
