Uxbridge senior Aidan Ross surges to CM Invitational win

The Boston Herald
Aidan Ross was looking for a hard effort heading into the championship season. At Saturday’s 61st Catholic Memorial Invitational, he didn’t need the competition to push him.

Running on Franklin Park’s 3.1-mile layout in the Red Varsity race, the Uxbridge senior and soon to be Wake Forest Demon Deacon, had a 60-yard lead through an opening 4:48 and cruised home with a quick time of 15 minutes, 32.59 seconds. Ross’s time was just short of the meet record of 15:24 set in 1997 by Abrizak Mohamud of Boston English, and put him well ahead of runner-up Ryan Connolly of North Andover (16:17.88). Catholic Memorial’s John Garvey sprinted home for third place in 16:54.01.

Ross, who holds the 5K record of 14:47 on the Wrentham Developmental Center course, was pleased with his first time running at Franklin Park. Read more.
