The Paul Waters Scholarship

The Fund is named in memory of Paul A. Waters CM ’77 and other deceased members of the Class of 1977.  Paul was a beloved member of the Class of 1977.  He was school president and played football for four years. Paul’s friends nicknamed him “Charlie” after the All-Pro Dallas Cowboys defensive back. Paul walked on to the Boston College football team and ultimately earned a football scholarship. After graduating from BC in 1981, Paul spent most of his career in commercial real estate, which took him to many cities across the US. Paul passed away on July 5, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Donations made to this fund will help provide scholarships for deserving students at Catholic Memorial.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 by our reunion in 2027 to endow a scholaship in Paul's name. An endowed scholarship is invested and lives in perpetuity in the name of the class or recipient. The original invested amount is not touched and a 5 percent draw on the fund balance would be used for the scholarship each year ensuring both impact and growth over time. Gifts under the endowed level (under $100,000) also have a wonderful impact on students at the school. The fund is used to provide assistance for students each year until it is depleted.
