CM Summer Programs

CM is offering virtual  Enrichment Workshops throughout the summer. All Athletic Clinics scheduled for June and July have been cancelled. We are exploring the possibility of hosting lacrosse and hockey clinics in August.

Enrichment Workshops


Enrichment workshops allow students to develop or enhance writing, art, and public speaking skills. Workshop options open to boys and girls entering grades 5-12.

  • Speech and Debate Workshop: June 22 - July 2 (Coed, Grades 7 - 12)

    This course will introduce the fundamentals of public speaking through the competition categories of the Massachusetts Speech and Debate League. Students will engage in Prose and Poetry reading, Radio Announcing, Multiple Reading, Impromptu, Model Congress and Declamation. Workshop cost $275

     
  • Drawing Workshop: July 13 - 16 (Coed, Grades 6 - 9)

    This course is an intensive hands-on workshop for students who are passionate about improving their drawing skills and have previous experience with drawing. In this class, students will spend time drawing on various parts of CM’s campus focusing on a variety of mediums such as charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, and conte crayon. Students will learn contour, gesture, proportion, and perspective. Workshop cost $200

  • 5th/6th Grade English: July 27 - 31 (Coed)

    The 5/6th grade virtual English course is designed for students entering 5/6th grade who need to improve their English grammar and writing skills. Students will review vocabulary, basic grammar, basic writing skills, paragraph unity and coherence. Students will also read short works of fiction and write critical analysis on their reading. The course runs Monday through Friday from 9:45 - 11:15 a.m.
  • 5th/6th Grade Math: July 27- 31 (Coed)

    Intended for rising 5th and 6th graders, this virtual course is designed to help students improve their ability to solve problems involving ratios, fractions, percentages, decimals, algebraic expressions and equations. The course runs Monday through Friday from 8 - 9:30 a.m.
  • 7th/8th Grade English: July 27 - 31 (Coed)

    The 7/8th grade virtual English course is designed for students entering 7/8th grade who need to improve their English grammar and writing skills. Students will review vocabulary, basic grammar, basic writing skills, paragraph unity and coherence. Students will also read short works of fiction and write critical analysis on their reading. The course runs Monday through Friday from 9:45 - 11:15 a.m.
  • 7th/8th Grade Math: July 27- 31 (Coed)

    Intended for rising 7th and 8th graders, this virtual course is designed to help augment what your child learned in their Pre-Algebra and Algebra courses, including both solving and graphing concepts like algebraic equations, inequalities, linear equations and systems of equations. The course runs Monday through Friday from 8 - 9:30 a.m.
  • Critical Making Workshop: August 10 - 13 (Boys, Grade 8 - 9)

    The Critical Making Workshop is desgined for new students entering CM's 8th or 9th grade. The workshop provides an opportunity to experience the Critical Making coruses our 7th and 8th take during the academic year to provide students with a foundation of skills in design engineering, process-thinking, and problem solving. Students will work on two projects taken from the Critical Making course curriculum. Workshop cost: $325
  • Photoshop Workshop: August 10 - 13 (Coed, Grades 6 - 9)

    This is an introductory course to digital art. Students will discover secrets of digital magic that is Photoshop! Students will create original work by using tools in Photoshop and preexisting sources such as photographs or scanned artwork. Students will get a chance to make their own comics, movie posters, CD covers, and more! Workshop cost $200
  • HS Study Skills: August 17 - 21 (Coed)

    This virtual class will teach essential study and organizational skills, and will provide students with the solid foundation necessary for them to become an independent learner and achieve academic success. The course will discuss:
    • in school vs. online skills
    • highlighting and note taking
    • note taking during a teacher’s lecture
    • active reading / annotating novels
    • the “must dos” for each class (i.e. English vs. math)
    • effective studying techniques for quizzes, tests, midterms, and final exams
    • value of homework and how to use it when preparing for an assessment
    • managing groups projects 
    • prepare for extra help session with teachers
    • advocate for oneself in an out of the class
    • email a teacher to schedule an extra help session
    • time management 
    • maximize time in study hall
    Intended for students entering grades 9 through 12, this class is for students entering middle school who desire seeking provide a successful transition, students who do not possess these valuable skills and experienced academic challenges, academically strong students, who aspire to reach a higher level of success, and seniors in high school, who recognize the importance of having these skills in order to be a successful college student  Students will be encouraged to use their own materials (i.e. summer reading book) to practice these skillsThe course runs Monday through Thursday from 3 - 4 p.m.
  • MS Study Skills: August 17 - 21 (Coed)

  • College Essay Workshop: July 13 - 16 (Coed, Grade 12)

    Get a jump start on the college application process. Make good use of your time this summer to craft a personal statement that introduces you to college admissions officer. This class will discuss how to select a strong topic, to let your voice shine from the page, and to demonstrate your writing skill. By the end of the course, you will have a working draft of your college essay that has been peer reviewed and reviewed by the instructor.Workshop cost: $275

               
                   

Athletic Clinics

CM is exploring the possibility of offering a limited number of athletic clinics in August. The decision to run these clinics will be based on the state's reopening plan and guidance on summer programs. By completing this form, we will regularly update you on our plans as they progress. This form is not a registration form.
