Summer Assignments

All-School Summer Reading

As a school community, we will be reading The Red Bandanna by Tom Rinaldi. All students are required to read this book. The story of Welles Crowther is one many of our students and parents may have come across on ESPN. It is the story of 9/11 through the perspective of a young man and the impact he had on that day. The book offers insight and perspective on meaningful themes such as courage, one's calling, and character that are interwoven throughout the CM curriculum.

Your son and the larger community will be delving more deeply into these themes and this story throughout the 2019-20 academic year through a variety of class, school, and community events. We encourage parents to read along with their sons and experience the impact the story can have first hand.

*Some of the descriptions and depictions of the events are mature, but we believe to be age appropriate for all of our students.
