We are thrilled to announce the 2021 All School Read, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba. This memoir provides a compelling study of a young man who overcomes great adversity by building a windmill to harness electricity to support his family through incredible hardships in Malawi, Africa.
The story allows ample opportunities for discussion on a range of themes and topics including environmental science, innovation, health care, economics, politics, poverty, faith, and hope. Our faculty will be designing curriculum and projects to best engage this text.
This fall, we will also welcome the author William Kamkwamba to campus. William is a graduate of Dartmouth College and is now building The Moving Windmills Innovation Center in Malawi.
