Each year, the Theater Club at CM is responsible for two main stage productions: a fall play and a spring musical. Participation in the Theater Club is a serious commitment. Students rehearse each show for approximately six weeks. Over the course of a students’ theatrical career at CM, he will encounter a variety of genres and musical forms including comedy, mystery, tragedy, farce, and melodrama. Musicals range from the traditional to the contemporary.
While casting is competitive, plays are chosen to allow for a broad range of talent and participation. Auditions for the fall play are typically held in early September with the show being performed in early November. Auditions for the musical are typically held before the Christmas break with the show being performed in late March or early April.
The CM Theater Club is delighted to welcome students from Ursuline Academy, Mount Alvernia Academy, and other girls schools to help us with casting female roles.
The CM Stage Crew undertakes a supportive role for a variety of functions at Catholic Memorial. Their main task is set construction, props, costumes, lights, and sound for the two main stage Theater Club productions in the fall and spring. In addition, they support the A/V needs of functions ranging from musical concerts to special events run by Admissions and the President’s Office.
