Every Monday, our CM beat writers will be publishing our weekly CM sports round-up. The round-up provides our readers with scores and highlights of every CM varsity sporting event from the past week. We hope to keep you informed so that you don’t miss a beat of our athletics here on Baker Street.

Swimming Team Records First Victory with Impressive Performance over Saint John’s (Shrewsbury)
 
The CM swim team picked up its first victory of the season with a commanding 99-69 win over St. John’s (Shrewsbury) on Friday, improving its team record to 1-1 on the season.
 
CM swimmers finished first in all but two races. Junior Charlie Nascimben picked up two individual victories in the 200 individual medley and 500 free. In his first two meets of the season, Charlie’s times qualified him for the state championship meets in the 100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, and 500 free. 
 
Other individual winners included senior Ben Chipman in the 100 free, senior Nick Savage in the 100 breaststroke, eighth grader James McGrath in the 100 fly, and junior Marcus Gadsden in the 50 free. 
 
Nascimben picked up two more victories in the relays.
 
CM’s 400 free relay team of Nascimben, Marcus Gadsden, Darius Gadsden, and James Scannell earned the victory. The 200 free relay team of Luke Foster, Chipman, Marcus, and Darius also won their respective race.
 
The Knights face conference foe BC High next on Friday, January 4. 
 
Basketball:
 
Catholic Memorial 78, Franklin 73: Sophomore point guard Kurtis Henderson scored a game-high 37 points for the undefeated Knights on Friday night. Captain Brendan Ryan recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Catholic Memorial 100, West Roxbury 49: Junior guard Spencer Aronson scored 26 points to secure an up-tempo Knights home victory on Monday afternoon.

Hockey:
 
St. Sebastian’s 6, Catholic Memorial 2: In the second period, goals from junior defenseman Kevin McCarthy and sophomore Will MacNeil tied the Kevin T Mutch Memorial Hockey Game at 2-2 before the Arrows responded with four unanswered points for the win on Wednesday night.

Swimming:
 
Natick 95, Catholic Memorial 83: Junior Charlie Nascimben won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke on Wednesday. His victory times qualified him for the state championship meets in February.

Track and Field:
 
The Knights finished in thirteenth place (1:41.82) in the Boys 4x200 Meter Relay at the MSTCA Speed Challenge on Friday afternoon.
