Athletics at Catholic Memorial

PHILOSOPHY
Athletics is an extension of the classroom. Successful outcomes depend on strong effort, preparation, commitment to the team, and the ability to deal with adversity in its many forms. Catholic Memorial competes in the Catholic Conference, generally regarded as the top athletic league in New England.

As one of the smaller schools in the State, CM teams are renowned for their grit and determination. Catholic Memorial has a history of success across all our athletic programs. While we have the reputation as fierce competitors, we are also recognized for our sportsmanship.

Here at CM, we believe in both our middle school and high school athletic programs. Our success is derived from the great coaches and bonds of friendship that form through our 7-12 grade program. CM is proud of our high participation rate and applauds the many multi-sport athletes within our community.

The CM community believes that athletics provide opportunities to teach values and lessons that are important to the character of our students. CM has a storied tradition which allows our student-athletes the opportunity to become a part of something bigger than themselves. We are very proud of our athletic legacy, having won numerous conference and state championships, and we are committed to building upon that rich tradition.

LEADERSHIP
Athletics at CM enables our boys and young men to develop and demonstrate their leadership on and off the field. Young athletes who demonstrate a tremendous work ethic, competitiveness in the face of adversity, effective communications, and respect for others develop leadership qualities which will enhance success in athletics, academics, and life. By competing at the highest levels, our student-athletes are challenged and will experience both victory and defeat that will ultimately shape their character. We teach our young men the important lessons of courage and honor.

COACHING STAFF
CM coaches understand that athletics provide exceptional opportunities for character development. Sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and grit are found through the highest levels of competition. Our coaching staff and administration is filled with educators and dedicated professionals, who are role models that demonstrate outstanding character. Our coaches, and our entire administration, possess an excellent depth of knowledge and experience in their sport. Many have coached and competed in college at Division One, Two, and Three levels, which provides a collective insight that is unparalleled in Massachusetts. We believe in the teacher-coach model as we take great pride in assisting in the development and personal growth of our student-athletes. They are all strong communicators who embrace our philosophy and core values and inspire our student-athletes to learn and compete.

COLLEGE ATHLETICS
CM has a strong legacy of producing college athletes. Our athletes are well prepared for all aspects of collegiate athletics. Our coaches work in tandem with our Academic and College Counseling Staff to ensure that our students find the right college fit. Our athletes are recruited to play at the highest levels of college athletics. CM students have gone on to compete at Harvard, Dartmouth, Boston College, Notre Dame, Boston University, Ohio State, Navy, North Carolina, Bowdoin, Bates, Middlebury, Colby, Trinity, Hobert, Union, Assumption, St. Anselm, and Stonehill.
