Forensics Team

The Catholic Memorial Forensics Program, founded by Br. Wm. Regis Murphy in 1958, has always provided students with a competitive edge in speech and debate.  In 1988, CM's first national champion was John Didiuk, in the category of student congress.  In 1999, Matthew Maalouf, in the category of declamation, became the second national champion from the school's ranks. In 2010 Jhovani Vonleh earned a national championship in declamation.

The Catholic Memorial Forensic Team would like to invite you to attend the eleventh annual Afternoon of Exceptional Oratory hosted by the CM students.

Please help support our efforts and celebrate their extraordinary success this year in local, regional, and national tournaments. There will be lively entertainment, light refreshments, a raffle, and a very special silent auction. Come and share the excitement of forensics with our young men.

This is the team’s only public event and fundraiser. All funds raised directly support CM Forensics’ growth, activities, and equipment. Forensics provides our students with an opportunity to improve their communication and thinking skills through participation in various types of speaking contests and events.

The word “forensics” comes from Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) indicating one of three types of oratory. Aristotle described forensic oratory as oratory taking place in courts of law. (Thus the connection to “forensic medicine.”) Today, the term is applied more generally to refer to public speaking contests of all types, including debate.

Welcome Forensics Alumni

The next time you drop into your alma mater, take as look at the banner of past state champs on the left wall of the gym.  It's very red, very big, very classy and very appropriate.  Any time you'd like to volunteer to judge a Saturday, please let coach Coach Rob Croteau know.

We treasure the memory of our forensic alumni and would like to see you any time for any reason.

Please let me know of any milestones you would like published on this site. and come see our big red state champ banner.  akc
