Fine Arts

Art Club
The Art Club opens students up to new possibilities they hadn’t dreamed imaginable and rewards artistic students who want to take their talents to the next level.

The goals of the club are to use students’ artistic talents for community projects.  Highlights in years past have included: painting nativity figures, painting birdhouses for Habitat for Humanity, and a field trip to the Museum of Fine Art.

CM Choir
The Catholic Memorial choir has grown in numbers exponentially over the past several years.  Regularly performing at monthly liturgies, the choir has become a passage for students in grade seven through twelve to showcase their musical gifts.  Regularly singing at mass, members have also in years past traveled to the West Roxb
ury Community Center to sing around the holidays, have participated in the Benefit Concerts, and have sung in both the Christmas and Spring Concerts.  The group continually looks to expand their repertoire of songs.

Jazz Ensemble: The JazzMen
The Catholic Memorial JazzMen are one of the school’s instrumental music ensemble. Covering a wide array of genres, the JazzMen have, in the past, played events such as the annual Christmas Concert, the school’s Pep Rallies, Olympic Day, Open House, and the Spring Concert.  Innovative and ta
lented, members of the JazzMen have also been featured in Benefit Concerts and the past six spring musicals-in-concert: Chess: In Concert; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat  - The Concert; Guys and Dolls: The Concert; How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Les Miserables: School Edition; and Grease. They also have worked on original musical works.

Chamber Ensemble
The Catholic Memorial Chamber Ensemble made its debut in 2007 with smashing success.  A smaller instrumental group consisting of violins, cello, clarinets, flutes, and more, their musical repertoire consists primarily of classical works from Beethoven to Bach to Dvorak and more.  Having performed at many events including Open House, The Christmas Concert, NHS Induction, Lessons and Carols, and the Spring Concert, the group demonstrates musical poise and artistry.

Drama Club
The purpose of the drama club is to provide students with an introduction to the theatrical arts, whether it be on stage or behind the scenes.  Each year, two dramas are produced and performed by the drama club.  For the past several years, the group has performed at the Mass DramaFest; a dramatic competition open to high schools in Massachusetts.  Past productions include: 12 Angry Men; A Number; Poe’s Short Stories; On Borrowed Time; A Man for All Seasons; and The Guys.  The shows are a wonderful opportunity to showcase CM students’ finest dramatic talents.  The program has expanded each year and continues to grow.

Spring Concert
The spring concert features and highlights the musical talents of our CM students.  The JazzMen and The Chamber Ensemble perform group numbers as well as solos, duets, and trios.  Singers also have opportunities to showcase their talents.  Last spring's concert, Spring Fever, was performed on May 3, 2011.

Spring Musical
The spring musical is a one-night performance held annually in April at the CM Perry Gymnasium.  The musical brings together our talented CM students with professional musicians and technicians.  It is a unique and rewarding experience that our students are able to perform and work-alongside Boston-area professional musicians.  CM Faculty have also been known to appear on stage, in the orchestra pit, and backstage!
This year's production will be performed on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.  Past productions have included Chess: In Concert; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat: The Concert; Guys and Dolls: The Concert; How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Les Miserables: School Edition, and Grease
