Jim O'Connor Stadium
Beginning November 24, call it Jim O’Connor Stadium.
...On that day, Catholic Memorial School’s football stadium will be christened in honor of the man who taught us to play with “Poise & Class,” an approach that still guides CM athletes today.
He was the school’s first varsity football coach, a position he held for 19 years. But his service extended beyond the field, to the classroom and office as a teacher and athletic director, too. When Jim learned that he would be honored in this way this fall, he said, “I’m shocked and humbled.” It’s just what you would expect from Coach.
Our new athletic facilities and stadium, rebuilt in 2000 and resurfaced with field turf this summer, are a gem. This fall, they’ll be made even more special thanks to Coach Jim O’Connor – and thanks to you. We need you at this year’s game to honor Jim – November 24th – the 50th CM/BC High Turkey Bowl.
There has been tremendous momentum for the fundraising effort around this important project. Already, a small group of Jim’s players have raised 76% of the $200,000 goal. Proceeds are being used to help pay for the new field turf and track repair.
Each of Coach’s 19 teams are being asked to contribute to this important effort. Please consider joining your teammates in this cause, and let’s win one more this fall for Coach O’Connor!
