Indoor Track
Since 1959, the CM Indoor Track team has always provided many opportunities for CM athletes. The first varsity team competed under Coaches Howard Spence and Brother Aloysius Barry, earning their first berth at a state meet in 1961, where they finished 5th under the lights at Boston Garden. Dan Leahy took home an individual title in that meet in the hurdles.
As individual athletes, CM’s Winter Track team has earned accolades. James Catano earned a state championship title in the 2-mile event in 2001. Five years later, Matthew Dewey would earn All-American status by finishing in the top six in the nation, also in the 2-mile run event.

As a team, Winter Track earned its first Eastern Massachusetts state title in 1971. The track squad has always performed admirably against Catholic Conference and non-conference opponents in dual, coaches’, and invitational meets. But with the best competition in New England up against CM each year, an Eastern Mass Championship has eluded the team since 1974.
