TUE DEC 14      LA SALLE (@ Providence College)      A L 6-3
La Salle Academy scored two power play goals and two empty net goals on the way to a 6-3 victory over CM at Schneider Arena in Providence RI. The Knights got goals from seniors Tom Stanton, Dan O'Hear and Kevin McCarthy. Tommy Knox '12 had 21 saves for CM.
SAT DEC 18      NEEDHAM HIGH      H W 4-1
Liam Coughlin '13 scored a hat-trick and Dan O'Hear '11 added a goal.
SUN DEC 19      DELBARTON SCHOOL      H   L 2-1
Delbarton scored twice in the first period and dominated the first half of the game. Tommy Knox '11 kept the Knights in it with some spectacular saves. Liam Coughlin '13 scored the only CM goal in the second frame from Dan O'Hear '11 and Marc Hetnick '11 on a two-man advantage. This gave the Knights a big lift. They took over the game and stormed the Delbarton end of the ice but could not get the equalizer.
WED DEC 22      SAINT SEBASTIANS (@Harvard) **      A L 6-0
CM went down to a strong St. Sebastian's team at Harvard's Bright Arena. Tommy Knox '11 and Shane Starrett '13 split time in the CM net.
MON DEC 27      ST. JOHN’S PREP      H ppd. 2/8
WED DEC 29      CENTRAL CATHOLIC      H W 4-2
The Knights led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Cody Kingston '12 from Kevin McCarthy '11 and Chris Stathopoulos '11. In the second frame, CM increased the lead to 3-0 on goals by Marc Hetnick '11 from Liam Coughlin '13 and Jack O'Hear '13 from Dan O'Hear '11and Stathopoulos. CC got one back at the end of the period before CM regained their three-goal lead early in the third. Coughlin scored, assisted by Jack O'Hear and Hetnick. A late goal by Cental Catholic accounted for the final score. Tommy Knox '11 made 27 saves in net.
SAT JAN 01      THAYER ACADEMY      H W 3-2
CM spotted Thayer Academy a 2-0 lead and then came roaring back to take a 3-2 victory at BU. Tommy Barrett '13 scored early in the second period assisted by Kevin Bletzer '14 to make it 2-1. Then Tom Stanton '12 scored an unassisted goal to tie it. Chris Stathopoulous '11 scored the only goal in the third period from Kevin McCarthy '11 and the Knights closed the door from there. Shane Starrett '13 got his first start on the year and stopped 23 Thayer shots.
TUE JAN 04      B.C. HIGH (@UMass Boston)      A   W 3-0
CM started strong with two goals in the first five minutes of the game. Tommy Barrett '13 from Harry Connelly '12 and Liam Coughlin '13 from Marc Hetnick '11 and Sean Sullivan '12 put the Knights ahead to stay. Dan O'Hear '11 assisted by Jack O'Hear '13 and Coughlin sealed the deal with a third period goal to make it 3-0. Tommy Knox '11 played a terrific game, stopping all 22 shots.
SAT JAN 08      HINGHAM HIGH      H   W 4-2
CM got a measure of revenge against Hingham with a 4-2 victory. The game was still scoreless with three minutes left in the second period when Tom Stanton '12 deflected in a shot by Justin Ryder '12. After Hingham tied it, Jack O'Hear '13 scored from Dan O'Hear '11 and Liam Coughlin '13 with just 19 seconds left in the period to give CM the lead for good. In the third frame, the Knights took a 3-1 lead on a Cody Kingston '12 goal from Chris Stathopoulous 11. Hingham made it 3-2 , but CM put the game away on a Marc Hetnick '11 score assisted by Jack O'Hear and Coughlin. Tommy Knox '11 played a strong game to deliver the Knights their fourth straight win.
TUE JAN 11      MALDEN CATHOLIC (@ Val. Forum)      A L 7-3
CM led this one 2-1 with eight minutes to play. A second period goal by Dan O'Hear '11 from Jack O'Hear '13 and Marc Hetnick '11 and a third period score from Liam Coughlin '13 assisted by Jack O'Hear had the Knights ahead. But MC scored six in the last seven minutes of the game to get the win. Chris Stathopoulous '11 had the other CM goal.
SAT JAN 15      XAVERIAN      H     L 3-2
CM got a first period goal from Dan O'Hear '11 assisted by Liam Coughlin '13 and Jack O'Hear '13 and a third period goal from Jack O'Hear from Coughlin and Marc Hetnik '11. But it was not enough, as the Knights fell to Xaverian, 3-2. Shane Starrett '13 faced 29 shots in the CM net.
SAT JAN 22     SPRINGFIELD CATHEDRAL      H   W 4-2
CM scored first on a power play, Dan O'Hear '11 from Tom Stanton '13 and Marc Hetnick '11. Cathedral tied the game in the second period before CM went up 2-1 on a Chris Stathopoulos '11 goal on a beautiful set up from Kevin McCarthy '11. Hetnick also assisted. The Knights found themselves tied again, before Stathopoulous put them ahead for good, assisted by Justin Ryder '13 and Cody Kingston '12. The third frame saw CM ice the game on a Kingston score from Stathopoulous and Sean Finn. Tommy Knox '11 posted the win in the CM net, by stopping 17 of 19 shots.
TUE JAN 25      XAVERIAN (@ Foxboro Sports Center)     A W 5-2
Xaverian scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game, then CM shut the door. Chris Stathopoulos '11 got the first of his four goals to cut the Hawks lead in half. In the second period, Tommy Barrett '13 scored from Stathopoulous and Kevin McCarthy '11 to tie it. The third frame belonged to Stathoploulous. He put the Knights up 3-2 off of a face off about five minutes in. He scored a short handed goal after a terrific individual effort to make it 4-2. Then got an empty net goal assisted by McCarthy to account for the 5-2 final score. Shane Starrett '13 was in net for CM and he kept the Hawks off the scoresheet after their opening attack.
SAT JAN 29      MALDEN CATHOLIC      H T 1-1
In a great game, CM and MC fought to a 1-1 tie. MC scored first late in period #1. CM battled back and finally tied it up on an unassisted goal by Marc Hetnick '11 with about six minutes left in the game. Shane Starrett '13 stopped 36 of 37 shots in the CM net.
TUE FEB 01      ST. JOHN’S PREP (@Wilmington)      A ppd.
TUE FEB 08    ST. JOHN'S PREP H   L 4-2
The game was tied at 2-2 early in the third period when the Prep got the winner. They added an empty-net goal with 10 seconds left to make the final score 4-2. CM got goals from Liam Coughlin '13 on a power play in the first period, and, Justin Ryder '12 in the second. Shane Starrett '13 played well in the CM net.
SAT FEB 12     B. C. HIGH ***      H L 5-4
CM was down 5-2 in the third period, but could not complete the comeback. Kevin McCarthy '11 and Jack O'Hear '13 scored to make it 5-4, but the Knights would get no closer. Marc Hetnick '11 and McCarthy scored the other CM goals.
WED FEB 16      MT. ST. CHARLES      A T 3-3
CM rallied from a two goal deficit to register a 3-3 tie at Mount St. Charles. Liam Coughlin '13 scored in the first period from Kevin McCarthy '11 and Chris Stathopoulos '11, but the Knights found themselves down 3-1 late in the second frame. Stathopoulos scored from Coughlin to make it 3-2. Stathopoulos then scored the equalizer, again assisted by Coughlin, to account for the final score. The Mount put 21 shots on Shane Starrett '13 in the CM net.
SAT FEB 19      BISHOP HENDRICKEN      H W 2-1
CM trailed the game 1-0 in the third period when Kevin McCarthy '11 scored a power play goal to tie it up. Assists went to Chris Stathopoulos '11 and Liam Coughlin '13. Later in the period, Michael Cusato '13 scored the game winner from Dan O'Hear '11 and Justin Ryder '12. Shane Starrett '13 was solid in the CM net.
MON FEB 21      WEYMOUTH HIGH *      H L 2-0
CM dropped this one despite putting 35 shots on the Weymouth net, including 14 in first period. Weymouth got both goals on odd man rushes in the second period. Shane Starrett '13 was the CM netminder.
WED FEB 23      FAIRFIELD PREP (@ Bridgeport CT)      A L 2-1
CM outshot Fairfield 36-12, but could not breakout of their scoring slump. The Knights only goal was from Liam Coughlin '13 assisted by Jack O'Hear '13 and Justin Ryder '12. Shane Starrett '13 was in net again for CM.
FRI FEB 25       ST. JOHN'S PREP (@Revere)   A L 3-1
Tom Stanton '12 gave the Knights a 1-0 lead, but St. John's scored two goals late in the second period and added an empty-netter with less than a minute left to seal the game. Dan O'Hear '13, Tommy Knox '11, Marc Hetnik '11, Chris Stathopoulos '11, Kevin McCarthy '11 and Leo Stapleton '11 all played their last game in silver and red. The young CM team gave its all this season, and with many sophomores and even freshmen seeing action, the future looks bright.
