Peter G. Trovato ‘00
Founder, Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund

Peter Trovato ’00 acquired his love of serving others at CM as part of the National Honor Society.  While studying at UMass, where he played on the hockey team (becoming a captain by senior year), he formed the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund.  Specifically designed to aid widows of fallen troops in conflicts overseas, the fund provided college tuition for its first recipient in 2008.  Any eligible parent can apply for $10,000 of aid per year for any private or public college, in or out of state.

Honored by many organizations, Trovato earned the 21st Century Leader Award by the University of Massachusetts in 2005.  He was named Most Inspiring Student Athlete by the University of Massachusetts Athletic Department, and was the runner-up for the National NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award in 2005, Trovato continues to recruit notable philanthropists like Larry Lucchino, Charlie Jacobs and Jonathan Kraft to his cause.

Trovato also works as a Private Equity and Venture Capital Investor at Summit Partners

“I have so many great memories of Catholic Memorial," he says. "Whether it was winning three straight Super-8 Hockey titles with Coach Hanson; analyzing short stories and poetry in English class with Mr. Catano, or working the football concession stand on Saturdays with Mr. Murphy. I will never forget my CM days. The experiences I had, the guidance I received, and the friendships that I made will last a lifetime.”
