James Handlin serves as Head of the Upper School at Woodstock Day School, where he is also an English teacher. After CM, Dr. Handlin earned degrees in Classical Languages, Counseling Psychology, and Educational Leadership with a focus on Visual Arts. He earned his Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Columbia University.
Since 1974, Handlin has been a leader in the schools where he has worked, most notably serving as headmaster at Pingry School, Rockland Country Day School and Brooklyn Friends School. He began his tenure at Woodstock in 2007. Dr. Handlin is also an award-winning poet and a well-regarded meditation and yoga practitioner.
