Capt. Thomas Broderick ’69

Capt. Broderick graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy before attending flight school. After being commissioned a pilot, Broderick trained to fly the SH-2F Seasprite helicopter and served on several deployments during his active duty.

As a reserve officer, Broderick served with the HAL-4 “Red Wolves” squadron out of Norfolk, Va. and the HCS-4 search-and-rescue squadron, which he assumed command of in 1992. His was one of only three reserve air squadrons that participated in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm operations. 

In the ‘90s, Broderick served at the Pentagon as Executive Officer and Duty Captain, commanded the CLF-106 Squadron and began further leadership training in Tennessee. He was recalled to active duty shortly thereafter.  He served as Deputy Director of Total Force Programming and Manpower in 2005, deploying to Djibouti, Africa in support of the Global War on Terror, and was assigned to the Office of Naval Research in 2009.  He assumed his current post in May, 2010.
