Facts and Figures
• CM's 10-acre West Roxbury campus opened its doors on September 9, 1957.
• Nearly 10,000 alumni have graduated from Catholic Memorial School in its fifty-two year history.
• CM alumni live in all 50 states and in 31 countries throughout the world.
• Students travel from far and wide to come to CM. In all, our students come from over 90 different communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and from 3 countries abroad.
• Balance is the key to CM’s student population. 49% of our students come from the City of Boston; 49% come from suburban communities; 2% are international students.
• The student to teacher ratio of 12:1 enahnces CM’s “small-school” feel. At CM, all students are known by name.
• Students at CM come to us from over 90 different communities and international students come from Korea, Germany and China. Students of color comprise 20% of CM's student body. Click on the thumbnail below for a detailed view of the communities our students call home.
• Catholic Memorial Television (CMTV) is CM’s own in-house broadcast journalism network goes on air every morning for a live, student-directed broadcast during homeroom.
• CM’s renowned Speech and Debate Team has established itself as one of the top programs in New England. The team has produced 19 individual state champions and over 150 national championship qualifiers.
• Through the Blessed Edmund Rice Solidarity Initiative or “BERSI,” CM students travel to Asia, Europe, El Salvador, Peru and Puerto Rico.
• 88% of CM teachers hold advanced degrees and there are 6 Ph.D.s on staff.
• CM’s extensive offerings in World Language include Latin, Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Italian and Irish Language and Literature.
• CM offers 31 Honors and AP courses and over 30 extracurricular activities.
• CM offers more than $1 million each year to its students in financial aid and scholarships.
• 100% of CM’s graduates are accepted to four-year colleges and recent graduating classes have earned over $5 million in scholarships and awards.
• A testament to CM’s rigorous academic program, fifteen young alumni are currently studying at Ivy League universities.
• Recent CM graduates have recently been accepted to such schools as Harvard University, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy. Brown University, Boston College, New York University, Boston College, the College of the Holy Cross, the University of Notre Dame, William and Mary and Williams College.
• Catholic Memorial athletic teams have produced over 30 state and sectional champions in individual competitions, and 21 state and sectional championships in team sports in the last decade.
• CM students had a pass rate of 82% on AP exams in 2009. The national average was 58%.
• In the last two years, seven CM students have achieved perfect scores of 800 on SAT exams.
• Students in CM’s Campus Ministry program contribute hundreds of hours of community service to programs in their neighborhoods each year, and support causes like the Making Strides Walk for breast cancer research, raising over $50,000 since 2005.
