Middle School Speech

CMMS Speech Team Competes all year!

Mrs. Eberly

Mrs. Eberly

Speech Team practices most afternoons in the LA Room upstairs. Come on UP! EVERYONE in Grades 7 and 8 can join the CMMS Speech Team at any time during the year. Just bring a 5-6 minute dramatic reading selection with you whenever you decide to jump into line to use the microphone.  Our round-robin speech practices take place three afternoons per week from about 2:40 p.m.-3:30 p.m.  See Mrs. Eberly if you have any questions.

·         The Catholic Memorial Middle School Speech Team, with its participation in the MMSFL, continues to provide our young men with a positive and supportive forum in which to advance their dramatic and public speaking skills.

·         Most have little to no previous experience performing in front of an audience outside of athletic competition.

·         Thus, most CM Knights also see their joining the speech team as a courageous decision, one that will launch each member on his personal quest to develop more advanced public speaking skills needed by adult leaders.

·         Yearly, our team size averages 24-50 students but has been as large as 85.  Our high school team numbers over 80 members this year with 74 of them former CMMS Speech Team members.

·         In brief Speech/Forensics, has developed into one of the premiere activities at Catholic Memorial, 7-12, where nine seniors qualified for Catholic Nationals this year (2009).
