The Catholic Memorial School Fine Arts program has grown exponentially since the opening of the Middle School. Students are presented with a wide array of opportunities to hone their creative gifts in music, art, and theatre. The curriculum currently consists of a grade seven full year art class and a grade eight full year music class. Here are some of the ways in which students are introduced to the arts at CM at the Middle School level.
The Middle School Art Program focuses on the basics of drawing to prepare them for the high school level. Students learn the elements and principles of art through drawing, painting, mixed media, and printmaking. Several 7th & 8th students are members of the Art Club which encourages grades seven through nine students to develop their artistic abilities in a fun-filled environment after school. Middle School students in the past have received awards and distinctions throughout the neighboring communities because of their creative gifts and their artwork.
