Guidance Department

The Guidance Department strives to support the students’ academic pursuits, career interests, and social/emotional development. Through individual and group meetings each of the four counselors assists students with course selection and academic planning with the ultimate goal of college acceptance. Utilizing a comprehensive series of testing (see chart below), the Guidance Department prepares its counselees for success on the ACT and SAT.

Mr. Bob Tegan,
Guidance Director

The Guidance Department also offers several parent information sessions during the school year. In November the parents of sophomores are invited to an evening session about many general topics of interest. In January parents of seniors attend our annual financial aid information night. In February the parents of juniors attend a mandatory information briefing about the college process.

Counselors stand ready to help any student who is experiencing personal difficulty in his life. Our staff will evaluate any emergency situation and make referral to an appropriate helping agency.

Confidentiality

Our counselors maintain strict confidential standards. Trust is essential between the counselor and the student. Only in cases where there is a clear and present danger to the counselee or other person may this confidence be broken.
